Part 1: How Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Communications Boost Health Equity
The overarching theme of the HHS Office of Minority Health’s 2013 enhanced National CLAS Standards is to present a blueprint for health and health care organizations to “provide, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy, and other communication needs.” Standards established specifically for Communication and Language Assistance will be discussed and how they apply to developing plans and policies for emergencies.
Part 2: Introduction to Outreach and Crisis & Emergency Risk Communication (CERC)
This training will focus on providing an overview of concepts and best practices to educate attendees and provide them a basic understanding of outreach and CERC. The training program will include:

- Review out outreach principals for health care centers, including best practices
- Fundamentals of a CERC plan and guide to creating your own
- A takeaway resource guide will be available
